Prime Minister Narendra Modi, co-chairing the AI Action Summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, emphasized the transformative power of artificial intelligence while highlighting the need for responsible governance, global cooperation, and inclusive access, particularly for the Global South.

In his opening address, PM Modi illustrated the potential and biases of AI through a simple example, stressing the need for ethical oversight. "AI is reshaping our polity, economy, security, and society at an unprecedented scale and speed. To harness its benefits while addressing risks, we must establish governance frameworks that uphold shared values and build trust," he stated.

The Prime Minister underscored the importance of ensuring AI access for all, especially in resource-limited regions. "AI can revolutionize healthcare, education, and agriculture, accelerating progress toward Sustainable Development Goals. We must collaborate on open-source systems, unbiased data sets, and people-centric applications while addressing challenges like cybersecurity, misinformation, and deepfakes," he asserted.

Addressing concerns over AI-driven job disruptions, PM Modi expressed confidence in technology’s ability to create new opportunities. "History shows that work does not disappear; it evolves. Skilling and reskilling will be key in an AI-driven future," he remarked.

PM Modi also emphasized sustainable AI, noting its high energy demands. He highlighted India's commitment to green technology, referencing the International Solar Alliance partnership with France. "Sustainability in AI extends beyond clean energy to efficient models that optimize data and resources, much like the human brain," he said.

Showcasing India's AI leadership, PM Modi highlighted the country’s successful Digital Public Infrastructure, its AI adoption strategies, and its innovative public-private partnerships. "India has developed one of the world’s largest AI talent pools and is creating its own Large Language Model. Our AI mission is built on responsible governance, inclusivity, and global collaboration," he affirmed.

The Prime Minister concluded with a call for human responsibility in shaping the AI future. "As we stand at the dawn of the AI age, it is humans who hold the key to our collective future. That sense of responsibility must guide us," he said.

The AI Action Summit, hosted in Paris, brings together global leaders to discuss AI governance, innovation, and ethical considerations in the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
